Who We’re Looking For
Alivo is hiring a Director of Engineering to help us build the future of AI-powered scheduling and communication tools for roofers. You’ll be the first engineering leader outside our technical founding team — playing a hands-on and strategic role as we scale.
What You'll Do
- Write and review production code across our Django (backend) and React (frontend) stack — you’ll be deeply hands-on from day one
- Own and manage releases, ensuring code quality, velocity, and reliability
- Lead technical processes — run stand ups, shape sprints, and bring structure to our development workflows
- Make architectural decisions as we scale — especially around backend infrastructure, performance, and integrations with LLMs
- Collaborate closely with founders on product direction, prioritization, and technical trade-offs
- Help build and mentor the team — shaping a strong engineering culture as we grow
Qualifications
- 5+ years of backend-heavy experience, ideally with Django, React, and Postgres
- Strong architectural instincts and clean coding habits
- Experience managing or mentoring other engineers
- Startup or fast-moving team experience preferred
- Familiarity with LLMs, AI agents, or real-time communication systems is a plus
